Amat announces another illustrious participation in the Femfestival project, that of Alberto Fortis, as a Juror for the International Songwriting Competition for the Pop Category. The Festival Team is excited about this participation: “Alberto represents a significant piece of Italian songwriting music history; we are happy that he believes in our project, which features emerging authors from all over the world and our Unconventional Singers”.
A well-known Italian singer-songwriter, Alberto Fortis quickly won the public’s affection after his recording debut in ’79 and soon established himself as a major player in Italian music. Sixteen albums produced between Italy, the United States and England, one platinum, two gold records and more than one and a half million records sold.
He worked with such renowned artists as George Martin (producer of the Beatles), the London Philharmonic Orchestra, PFM (Premiata Forneria Marconi), Claudio Fabi, Lucio Fabbri, Gerry Beckley (of America), Carlos Alomar (producer of David Bowie), Bill Conti, Guido Elmi and the Arturo Toscanini Symphony Orchestra. Meetings with Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, and film director Wim Wenders also helped spread his live music overseas, getting him to perform in concert in Los Angeles and New York.
Sensitive to social and humanitarian issues, Alberto is a UNICEF ambassador for the protection of the children of the Navajo Native American population, a testimonial for A.I.S.M. (Italian Association against Multiple Sclerosis) and City Angels (Humanitarian Association of Social Volunteers).
From June 22, 2018 the New double album on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Career.
The Unconventional Singers concert with the finalist songs in the competition and the Lilia Bloom Award Ceremony will take place in New York City at Lincoln Center on November 27.
