On December 7 at 5:30 PM, the Santa Maria della Scala will host the presentation event for Suor Angelica, which is set to premiere at the Teatro dei Rinnovati on December 11.
This opera will be presented like never before, as the director and cast, along with students from Siena’s Galilei High School, will explain during the event. The presentation will include an open orchestra rehearsal and a talk. Excerpts from the correspondence that likely inspired Puccini in composing this one-act opera will be read, and the story’s prelude will be illustrated with artwork by Spartaco Ripa.
This marks the third edition of Regeneration Opera, a project by AMAT in collaboration with the Teatri di Siena, the Fondazione Antico Spedale Santa Maria della Scala, Opera Laboratori, Sillabe, and Canale Tre Toscana.
The performance at Teatro dei Rinnovati is part of Siena in Opera, a season of musical theater and opera passionately championed by the Director of the Theaters of Siena, Vincenzo Bocciarelli. The initiative aims to enrich the season’s cultural offerings by evoking the spirit of Italy’s great opera houses while embracing innovation and originality to create a theater experience accessible to all.
