Peter at the Museum | The show for the youngest

Today, 28 November 2022, marks the end of the project “Peter at the museum”, a special review of S. Prokofiev’s musical fairy tale Peter and the Wolf at the Santa Maria della Scala Museum in Siena.

The musical performances, part of the Regeneration Opera project and organized by Amat in collaboration with several local schools, involved more than 900 elementary and middle school children. There was great enthusiasm from the young participants, who showed interest and curiosity, thanks also to the brilliant performance of actress Paola Benocci and the Unconventional Orchestra conducted by Concetta Anastasi. The review saw its debut in the magnificent setting of the Santa Maria della Scala Museum, and then went all the way to the Teatro dei Rinnovati in Siena with the narrative voice of Pamela Villoresi.

The Regeneration Opera is a project that shows its attention to the youngest, seeking to bring them closer to culture and theater, encouraging education in art and music listening by taking advantage of the artistic heritage in our possession. The opera Peter and the Wolf represents a perfect example of this project: a musical fairy tale capable of nurturing the curiosity, musical interest and imagination of the youngest, but also able to bring lightness back to the oldest; a show therefore suitable for everyone, yet with different and multiple levels of interpretation.

Regeneration Opera’s musical review continues: scheduled for this late fall are Beethoven’s Third Symphony with J. Brahms’ La Bella Magelone (Nov. 30) and Puccini’s one-act opera Gianni Schicchi (Dec. 6).
