Tomorrow, July 25th, at 6:00 PM (NYC time), the Unconventional Singers will perform at the Lincoln Center’s Stanley Kaplan Penthouse with the finalist pieces of the Lilia Bloom Award, an international prize by AMAT aimed at composers and arrangers. This year marks its second edition, made possible through the collaboration and friendship between AMAT and New York patrons Lilia and Barry Bloom.
The award is part of the experimentation and dissemination work that the Singers are carrying out, aiming to break down barriers between classical and pop music, between operatic singing and contemporary music, to reach a broad and young audience.
Seven pieces (four originals and three arrangements) were selected for the final concert by the Jury, composed of James Williams, former general manager of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London and from next September CEO of the Royal Academy of Music, Florin Estefan, baritone and general manager of the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca, Concetta Anastasi, and the Unconventional Singers.
The finalist composers are Stefano Cencetti (Italy), Paula Gallardo (Italy-Brazil), Rosita Piritore (Italy), Bragi Tor Valsson (Iceland), and Cristina Valente (Italy-USA).
